A Full Wkend!

This last weekend one of my good friends from high school, Ashley, tied the knot to a man named Jeremy! It was a special weekend full of fun and festivities.

Adam and I headed up to Kearney Friday afternoon for the rehearsal dinner. It all went well and we were excited to see Ash and Jeremy so much in love and ready for their big day!

The day of the wedding was gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful out and Ashley looked amazingggg! I loved her little cupcake dress with her sparkling hairpiece and necklace! Most of the bridesmaids all went to high school in Ashland with Ash and it was fun reminiscing about the past and thinking about the future...while we were applying lipstick and hairspray the guys all slept in and went to Big City Burrito (home of the famous "gutbuster", where Adam and TL have their picture on the wall from a day last summer where they inhaled the gutbuster). They day went smoothly and it was great to see some old friends there celebrating Ashley and Jeremy's special day as well!

Adam taking pictures of TL taking pictures. Very necessary.

And...Adam taking pictures of Chris taking pictures.

This is so "not" Trent, So, I had to add it. Enjoy TL.

Miss Mary and Linda (Amanda's mom) came up to celebrate as well!

While we were in Kearney, my brother Alex was graduating from UNL! Woot woot! I'm so happy for him, bummed I couldn't celebrate, but it's okay...I heard the ceremony was 2 1/2 hours long, I was fine being there in spirit:)  He is done with school now and will be getting married soon...9-10-11 (the date of the wedding is very "Alex-like")!

This pic my mom took is awesome! Everything a little blurry except for Al!

The next morning we drove home, stopped quick to grab Bruce (Adam's brother, Tyler, helped us out big time and looked after Bruce while we were in Kearney- Thanks Tyler!), and met my grandparents and family to eat a little "Mother's Day lunch". We stopped by Grandma Barb's to say hi and then headed off to work on getting the cabin back in shape for summer time. After that we drove to Fremont and had dinner with Adam's fam! Adam and Thomas played basketball, Tom grilled, and Robin, Evelina, and I kept our eyes on the dogs!

The neighbor dog came over....HUGE! Holy cow, she said the dog weighed over 200 lbs!

April into May

It has been a busy couple of weekends here and so I will try and get you updated quick!

Last weekend we celebrated life! My Gramee Sapp turned 80 and my mom, aunts, and grandpa threw her a little party. We gathered and listened to the stories and thoughts of everybody that was close to her! Such an amazing woman and I strive to be like her! My mom asked me to think of some reasons why Gramee is Gramee! Here are just a few things that I thought of:

•     Gramee is so thoughtful. I remember everyday in middle school I would always walk to Grandpa and Gramee’s house after basketball practice. I would be so tired and worn out and gramee would always peel an orange for me! I always looked forward to that “already peeled” orange when I was in the middle of practice!
•    Gramee is so helpful. I can’t even count all the times that I have brought ripped clothing for her to mend and she always does it, and does it very well I might add! She also helped sew these amazing shawls for my wedding and they were a hit!
•    Gramee is oh so generous. It is fun that she shares their Arizona house with us! We love going down there to relax. She is so organized with every direction easy to understand and follow!
•    Gramee is so hospitable. I don’t know how many times I will just stop by the house because I have thirty minutes to spare and she is ALWAYS willing just to stop whatever she is doing and sit down and talk with me. I love it! She makes me feel so important!
•    Gramee is such a warm and loving wife. After just getting married I think about how she is such a Godly wife to my Grandpa. She is selfless and puts my Grandpa first, I see it every time I am with them together!
•    Gramee is encouraging. Sometimes I will stop by to run around the lake quick and she always gives me confidence and makes me feel good!
•    Gramee is fun! When we were little, my cousins and I would always go into her square dancing closet and dress up in her square dancing puffy skirts! She never cared about us tearing them or ruining them! She just smiled and laughed as she watched us have fun with each other!

While we were all at Gramee's party the newest addition to the Sapp family arrived! My cousin Andy and his wife Julie had little Cooper Raymond! Adam and I still haven't had a chance to actually go see the precious little thing but hopefully we will see him soon!

The next morning we woke up at 4:30 and headed down to Lincoln for the Lincoln half marathon. Ugh! Neither Adam or I had trained very much and I was literally counting down the hours until I could get this thing over with. I ran it a couple of years ago and Adam ran it last year....but for some reason, we were just not as "excited" for it this year! I ran with Jen...um, let me rephrase that...I was trying to keep up with Jen, for this 13.1 miles of fun. During the race I wanted to hurt her...after the race, however, when we improved our time from two years ago I decided I could like her again:) We ran it in 2:05....good enough! Adam, my fast lil man, ran it in 1:34!

After mile 5 my right knee began really hurting and I was wondering if I could run and cry at the same time or if it would take too much out of me...I told Adam this and he informed me the whole time he was contemplating how "not-devistated" he would be if a car accidently hit him (not enough to injure, just enough so he could stop running)...ha...Clearly, we were enjoying this run.  I wish I could "love" running more...It would be awesome to be able to update my facebook status with "so excited to go out for a 10 mile run" or "smiling just thinking about my upcoming run"....instead, Adam and I were on the brink of purchasing these shirts when we saw them at the Nike store in Arizona....sadly, they didn't have them in our sizes.

We finished though, and it was nice to be able to do it in honor of my friend Jess, who died in a car accident this last fall. We raised over $1,000 to help build a school in Tanzania in her memory. There were so many people running/walking for Jess! I think they raised over $85,000! Amazing what can be done in the midst of tragedy. Jess would be so proud!

Tuesday Nights

Adam and I just started our Tuesday night softball league. We play with some of my teacher friends from Elkhorn and it is a pretty good time. I have never really played softball...I think I once played tee-ball when I was little and it just all stopped there. Ha. Anyways, Adam is amazing, as he is in all sports, and I am the catcher. I went up to bat three times and didn't make it to base once. So...Adam thinks we have some practicing to do...which probably is a good idea so my teammates don't kill me. Anyways, I just wanted to show you how serious I am about softball...this clip pretty much explains it...mainly, the snow cone part:)

Easter

This Easter was fun, refreshing, and yet exhausting. With getting Bruce the day before it made for a little longer day! We headed up to Lincoln on Saturday night to go bowling with Adam's family and celebrate Thomas's birthday! It was 90's night at the bowling alley which made things oh so much more fun:)

We went to church in Lincoln and had a yummy Easter lunch with Adam's family. There was delicious food left and right! Everybody met Bruce and then we headed off to have dessert with my family.

We stopped to say hi to my grandma Barb and chatted with her for a bit. The folks at the nursing home loved lil Bruce. Grandma said that "he was prettiest ugly dog I have ever seen"...Ha. Got to love her bluntness! Adam thinks she could be a stand-up comedian.

What I thought would be a pretty simple afternoon turned out to be "very active" because Miss Mary (my mom) was in charge...I should have known. We had a thrilling egg hunt...My brother Austin ended up with the overall win..."big blue egg" with $10 bucks in it. An egg we were all so jealous of.

We had a kite flying contest.

Bubbles.

And the Crazy Sapp Bros card game....Ashley (soon to be sister-in-law) won $10 and Suzanne was the loser...getting more then the rest of us...$1.

We had a wonderful Easter. Praise God for sending his son Jesus to die for us! Sometimes with all the "holiday celebrating" it's easy to forget the main purpose of Easter. My grandpa kept saying after everybody left and there were just a few still at the house cleaning up that "no matter how silly some of the games we play are, it gets people talking, laughing, and enjoying simple time with one another". I think that made me challenge myself to appreciate all times...whether I am running carelessly through the yard looking for my "9 Easter Eggs as a 25 year old", trying to figure out whether to lay the high spade or the trump heart, or cleaning up Bruce's poop! Ugh!

*And thanks to Suzanne for the great pics of Bruce in action!

Bruce the Bulldog

Finally, today was the day...we met Bruce and got to take him home! We set our alarm clock for 7am this morning and headed off to Kansas City to meet Jan, the Bulldog breeder. Jan was as cute as all get out when it came down to loving her dogs and her attire proved it: a pink shirt with a bulldog face smack in the middle covered by her quilted bulldog jacket. She pulled out our folder with the information we needed for taking care of Bruce from her bulldog purse! Not kidding. Intense bulldog lover and we loved every second of it! We received tons of goodies from her...everything from food and treats to toys and "puddle pads(used to help potty train pups)" and headed home!

We took Bruce in and set him down in our living room/kitchen area and watched him explore around. In the first 20 minutes he went to the bathroom three times on the carpet. Ha. We immediately started throwing more and more old towels down, of course he hasn't gone on the towels once, he prefers the white carpet, precious thing.

He took about a two hour nap while Adam did some freelance and I baked a giant cupcake birthday cake for Adam's brother, Thomas! I don't know what I would have done if the Neuberger girls hadn't gotten me that mold! :)  I would probably be five pounds lighter (because I of course ate all the part I had to cut off)! Here is a quick glimpse of that. Not the prettiest...in my mind I was picturing finished products like on Cupcake Wars...Adam had to remind me a couple of times that baking is not my full time job so I shouldn't expect mine to be like theirs...true, true.

Bruce is eating right now from the bowls we painted a few weeks ago...Whenever he eats or drinks Adam and I always say "you know what's coming soon..."...ha. Adam has already had to pick him up mid-pee and sprint over to the "paddle pad" to set him down three times now while I've been typing...of course he is ALWAYS done by the time Adam gets him there! "I just can't ever get their fast enough when I see him start" -in the moment quote by Adam. I think it's kinda entertaining at the moment, not gonna lie. We will keep you updated on this potty training experience.

We are now heading off to Lincoln to celebrate Thomas turning 21 and Easter tomorrow! I'm sure we will have some good pics hopefully. *Jan sent an Easter day outfit for Bruce...we might have to put it on...just for 5 minutes to make us laugh.
