Miss Ollie Arrives!

The Story

Early Wednesday morning I started getting contractions...not super close together, but close enough where I had to call in to school and let them know that I wouldn't be in because they were starting to hurt. They got closer and closer and I called Adam and 4 pm telling him I think he needed to come home so we could go to the hospital! Ah! We went in and the doctors told me there was good news and bad news...good news: I wasn't leaving the hospital without a baby, bad news: I had super high blood pressure and had to get on an Magnesium IV. They straight up told me this Magnesium was horrible. They told me I would feel super sick, depressed, dizzy, exhausted, etc. They didn't sugarcoat anything at all...and once they left the room I just started crying and crying to my parents and Adam. I was soooo scared and nervous to have this baby! I started shaking and didn't stop until the next day pretty much. Ugh. Thinking back, makes me shiver...I didn't even want to write about this, but I thought this would be good for me to look back and and think how it was all worth it in the end! And as little miss Ollie is here in my arms I already am so in love!

So, Wednesday night was probably the longest night of my life. There was lots that went on...they were trying different ways to induce me (because my contractions had stopped because of the Magnesium), the baby's heart rate dropped a couple of times and a crew of nurses would rush in and try to figure out why, etc. I was ready for morning when 6:00 rolled around. They doctors that were there told me that they would call my doctor at 7:00. Praise the Lord! I just wanted my Dr. Christman! He came in around 8:00 and told me my different options as far as other inducing ideas and a c-section. I still was only dilated to a 1 at this point! And they said that my minimum labor would be 12 hours...and they were nervous with the baby's heart rate dropping a couple of times throughout the night...so we decided "c-section time"! I was fine with it, I was so exhausted from what had already happened I just wanted to meet my little girl! So within 10 minutes of making the decision, Adam was scrubbed up and we were heading down the hall to have this baby!

The room was all white, with two huge lights, mirrors, and filled with about 15 doctors and nurses awaiting our arrival. I felt like I was in a movie. As the operation started I asked Adam to pray for me, and as he was praying one of the nurses put her hand on my head and prayed with us! It was touching. Within about 15 minutes we heard a loud cry, screaming to the world the she has arrived! Adam went over and watched our Ollie get checked out by a couple doctors and brought the little gem to me while they were closing me up. The joy of having her and seeing her that first time was/and still is indescribable!

We are so blessed to have Ollie Lucille! Such bliss!

The Waiting Game

And...we have entered the days where life is a waiting game. From all the people to all the latest pregnancy magazines to all of the daily pregnancy apps on my phone..."your baby may arrive anytime now...2 weeks before your due date- 2 weeks after your due date"... So, everyday I wake up thinking "shoot, didn't go into labor last night"...ha. I have so many feelings...I am so anxious, I am so scared, I am so excited! Adam and I both are just waiting on pins and needles....

I am reading this devotional (Jesus Calling by Sarah Young) that my mom got me for Christmas and it is so great! The other morning when I read it, it talked about trusting God to the point where we should thank and praise Him for things that haven't happened yet. I immediately thought about my latest concerns with not having a daycare yet or wondering what I will be doing next year...going back to teach, subbing, staying at home with baby girl? How will that work financially? How will that work with my emotions (I'm one of those people that needs to stay super busy or all sorts of emotions flood me and take over my body and mind)?

In the devotional, it read, " When you bring Me prayer requests, lay out your concerns before Me. Speak to Me candidly; pour out your heart. Then thank Me for the answers that I have set into motion long before you can discern results. When your requests come to mind again, continue to thank Me for the answers that are on the way."

I was overwhelmed when reading this. I guess I "know" that things will be how they are suppose to me, but I didn't think of it as God already having things in motion before I can even grasp my thoughts about them...and Him saying to THANK HIM even when we don't know what will happen...It gives me a sense of confidence and my mind-set becomes much more positive! Praise the Lord. One less thing to worry about:)

Bible in a year....

and 2 days...

We did it! Adam and I finished the Project 4:4 that we started with CCC, our old church in Omaha! It felt good. It totally helped having Adam by my side to help me with questions that I would have throughout the readings. It also helped my brilliantly creative husband with his reading fluency;)...he is reading quick and fast now...I feel like I should have done "words per minute" at the beginning of the 2012 and at the end. Ha;) Improvement my friends.  Aw...it's just so adorable.

It was hard at times to stick with it. We got super far behind at certain points in the year. I remember we were twenty some days behind and had to start doubling up days all the time. We'd almost be caught up and then get back down to a month behind. Some days we read together, some we read individually (especially, when Adam moved up to Kansas a month before me)...

But I think we are going to try and keep reading this year, but back to our own Bibles instead of the daily one, I like to write notes and such in my Bible...so this will be fun to do again. I remember telling Adam a couple of years ago, that if I died I wanted him to read through my whole Bible and "be proud" of all my notes;) My grandparents read the Bible every morning. And when they finish, they just start up again. We stayed there this fall and it was refreshing to wake up and see them having their morning coffee and fruit while reading together. I only hope Adam and I can follow in their footsteps.

God was good to us this past year (even with my "I don't want to move" breakdowns). God is good. No matter how much I hate change, He is good. It's fun to think about all the different places that we took our Bible to read...beaches and countrysides, Mexico and the Bahamas, laying in bed in Omaha and laying in bed in Wichita, in the car on the way back to NE...and in the car on the way back to KS...

So, Adam and I talked about New Year's resolutions and such..it's fun to set goals...especially if you can make them. But the stress just gets to me sometimes. And then I tend to think "you can live a little Amy, have that brownie"....or "is it more important to be social or workout now?"....;) This upcoming year we are just praying that we can be the parents that God wants us to be! Raise His little girl up in His name. So, we will try our best. I'm so nervous...to have a baby...miles and miles away from family and close friends...but obviously, we are here in Kansas for a reason! So, happy January! Hopefully, we will be holding our baby girl by the end of this month!

Her Room...

Over the last couple of months we have been putting together her room! So fun! From Pantone Swatch booklets (so she can be like daddy dearest) ;) to polka dot rugs to a variety of picture books to colorful streamers, it is finally all coming together! We are just waiting for her precious arrival now...about one month...or so we think. Adam and I just were talking the other day about how "special occasions" (weddings, birthdays, trips, etc.) always have a specific date. It's different with having a baby. There is no for sure date when you will be cradling them in your arms for the first time. They come when they want. 2 weeks early, a few days late, who knows...it's a fun, yet challenging wait. Suspense. Curiosity. Patience. and more patience...

Books & Underground

This weekend Brian, Adam, and I went to "Hutch" (Hutchinson, KS) to spend a few hours of our Saturday. It's about 30-40 minutes north of here. Very cute town. Adam was all hyped up about going to the salt mines and running full force on a continuous coffee high. We went up to an Amish Yoder's Cafe because we heard wonders about their food. Myths of cinnamon rolls the size of your head...for less than $2. After indulging in such healthy food we went to Bluebird Books. Another designer at Adam's work created the logo for this adorable store. This place was whimsical. We got into the car after purchasing some "necessary" items for baby anderson and headed to the salt mines. We went 650 feet underground and had a pitch dark 2-3 minute elevator ride down...kinda freaky. We toured around and went on a "dark ride" tour...They preserve a lot of movie costumes and such down so they won't deteriorate. Adam loved the batman suit.

We also decorated for Christmas, went on a hospital tour, and bowled at my school's holiday par-ty. Busy, busy Saturday!

You Know You're Pregnant When....

You know you're pregnant when...

- You're bulldog can walk faster than you on walks.

- You wear leggings for 5 days in a row and feel no shame.

- When you beg your husband to get a treadmill for each other's Christmas gift...then you find one on sale, purchase, have him and a friend spend 30 minutes getting it through the front door...and still have yet to use.

- When you need to lean back to get momentum to get yourself outta the car.

- When you complain about your how much your back hurts in you in 90% of the emails you send your husband daily.

  - Pour Pom Wonderful Juice into a wine class and pretend it's wine when you get home from teaching at a Title 1 school...(while eating chocolate...in a warm bubble bath...lit by candlelight). I know.

Boss & AMari!

So my brother, Austin (aka Boss) proposed to his girlfriend last weekend! Long story short...he was planning on doing it three weeks before he did and "plans/weather" just weren't working out...meanwhile, my mom and I were probably driving the poor kid crazy! When are you going to do it now? Will someone be able to take pictures? Should we make signs? After engagement dinner? Desserts & drinks? ha. Aus was not impressed with us gals...

He took Maribeth downtown to a fancy schmancy dinner and on a light up carriage...and got down on one knee:)

I am so excited to have Mari as a future sister-in-law! Love the crafty homemaker to pieces! I foresee us doing all sorts of crafts and her helping me improve my skills in the kitchen!

Al & Ash brought them this "la romantica" wine for this romantic occasion...ha.

Miss Mary made sure we had light up ice cubes (which I am a huge fan of and will probably be incorporating to any party I have in the future...even if that "party" consists of Adam and I dropping these in ginger ale on a crazy Saturday night)...

Congrats you two! We are so excited for August 10, 2013! Woooo Hoo!
